Brief Book Reviews: Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

Got a Kindle recently. Got some books recently.

My first book that I completed was called the Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard. Read on to find out my brief yet honest reviews. This will be the first BBR… I need to do something with my life so I shall read more. /hmpf

Genre: Young Adult

After reading the book, I wasn’t really that… amazed. The author (Victoria Aveyard) announced the series as a trilogy. Of course I wanted more, but the Red Queen wasn’t really memorable. I’ll be on the lookout for the next one to see if it’s better than the first.

The whole plot for this book is very very predictable. This is coming from me, a person who reads a lot of Young Adult books, fanfiction and stuff on Wattpad and elsewhere. The story gets a little draggy at times. I’m one for action, but not too much. A balance between romance, logic and action would be the best. Of course I can’t expect so many things, so predictable stuff must happen. However, this book is much more predictable than I expected so.. uhm. Considering the hype of this book on Goodreads, I’m a little bit let down.

I knew that the villain will be that guy (nope no spoilers for you) so it was very predictable. But I wanted to know how the love interest of the heroine will escape all the judgemental and mistrust. I’ll have to wait for the next book…

I love the magic parts in this book. I’m all for fairytales and that kind of stuff so that’s just me.

Pretty brief review, because I don’t intend to dwell onto the specifics of the story. A few words to sum up:

Predictable. Magic. Intriguing but a little draggy at times.

Rating? I’d give this a 7.2 out of 10 stars. Mhmm, 10 stars is better than 5.
